What if you could design a new mobility device—and its ecosystem—for a better Daejeon in 2035 and beyond?

By 2035, Daejeon will continue to serve as Korea’s science and technology hub, connecting diverse communities across the country. Despite national challenges like an aging society and a shrinking workforce, Daejeon still holds great potential—with untapped opportunities that could set a new standard for cities around the world.

People will seek mobility that is not only efficient, but also adaptable—capable of addressing issues like regional polarization certainly not aided by outdated transportation systems, and supporting new lifestyles supporting new demographics.

For this project, we asked students to envision mobility solutions that respond to Daejeon’s specific challenges—whether bridging regional divides or meeting emerging lifestyle needs. Here we’re presenting two projects: one proposes a sustainable system along the Gapcheon riverbed to connect all Daejeon; the other offers a mobile safe haven for young entrepreneurs to make the most of their time while in transit.
