Defining AI Wheel Design Assistant
We had the privilege of working with Narnia Labs - a prominent South Korean generative AI start-up on a mission to help designers' lives be more productive. We looked into the process of alloy wheel design. As part of many areas we covered, we performed live design projects to actually be in the shoes of the designers who do the task day in and out while documenting the process. The actual method and the outcome are all secret but as a byproduct of the research, we have a few good-looking wheels that we can share in this space.
* Independent case study
We tried to make this design more modern than the outgoing multi-spoke ones. We also wanted to characterize the Genesis graphical design DNA element - chopstick lines. We tried to use the parallel arrangement of the two lines as opposed to the usual dynamic thin to thick sort.
Aero wheels

Peugeot's currently offering super modern-looking wheels with very sharp faceted design language and new arrangement 0 4 spokes with only 2 different elements, different from anyone on the market. We thought it would be worth trying and designing using the same arrangement but with different taste, still making it look consistent of the style that the 408 lavishes.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS flunts great-looking wheels light on their feet and with enough technical sensitivy and complexity to intrigue many bystanders on race track. We thought we could pretend that we are aftermarket wheel manufacturers designing a better looking wheel than the original. We thought it be a good idea to add a bit of modern twist with disc wheels - that improves the aerodynamic performance in downforce by being attached to the rear-wheel. They also are style statements even though for some on-lookers the benefit may be marginal. Anyway we had to give it a go.
